Golden Globes 2014.

IT'S AWARD SEASON AGAIN!!!

This year I'm going to be giving my two cents' worth on time. It's going to be a mad rush, event after event.

With the Golden Globes kicking start the season, first of all, I present to you the WOWs.

Possibly my favorite at this year's Golden Globe Awards is the look of Caitlin FitzGerald. Her outfit was so January Jones in Mad Men, but more importantly, she looked elegant and sweet at the same time, without the sky blue wearing her. Though she lifted the entire look from Emilia Wickstead's runway (including the ankle-strap pumps), I love what she did with her hair, and coral lips to match her clutch and pumps. Lovely!

Also pretty in a high-low dress was Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery. The British actress is the one to watch, with all her looks hitting a homerun lately. She was in an Oscar de la Renta embroidered gown, and she wore Christian Louboutins in a matching color to complete her look. Her hair and make-up was also perfect. Simple but elegant from head to toe.

Can anyone look this amazing?! Amber Heard was breathtaking wearing a high-slit Atelier Versace gown with Jimmy Choos. She's carrying off the pompadour so well, it's amazing how someone can look this perfect matching the wild hair with that sexy number. Amber is such a looker. Good catch, Johnny Depp.

Lupita Nyong'o from 12 Years a Slave was making quite the statement in her bold orange Ralph Lauren dress. The look resembled Gwyneth Paltrow's Tom Ford look at the Oscars (see below) in 2012 but I really love a new red carpet comer in a stunning dress to make an entrance.

Julie Bowen always nails her red carpet looks. Loved her in her Fall 2013 Carolina Herrera gown. Her look is so pretty  and eye-catching, and so graciously feminine. The velvet clutch is a perfect match with the top half of her two-toned dress. I actually liked the dress more on the actress than on the runway model.

Kate Mara made an impact on me with her metallic deep-v dress by J. Mendel. It was understated but gorgeous without being overwhelming. The dress is so beautifully cut and undeniably flattering. Gotta love what she did with her hair and strong eyes, keeping accessories to a minimum, or even none. One of my favorites, for sure!

I don't know about you, but I found Rashida Jones absolutely adorable in her Fausto Puglisi palm tree dress! The Parks & Recreation actress kept things classy with a top-knot with full-bangs hairstyle, dark lips and pearl-lined ears (cute earrings!).

I could not feature Jenna Dewan without featuring her hunky hubby, Channing Tatum (who looked dapper in Gucci)! The new mum looked like a classic beauty in a black and white strapless gown by Roberto Cavalli. I love the geometrical Irene Neuwirth dangly earrings. The red lips are so apt with the dress. Another one of my favorites at the Globes this year (and no, it's not because of her one-helluva hunk arm candy)!

I absolutely LOVE Helen Mirren. She's such a respectable actress and she is glowing (I love her smile here!) and so, so gorgeous at 68 (!!) years old. I want to look this good when I'm 50!! She looked really sweet in her green Jenny Packham bejewelled gown with matching green earrings and bracelet by Bvlgari, completing the look with a Roger Vivier clutch. She is one stunning woman who never ever shy away from colors (check out her pastel pink nails!).

Cate Blanchett is always a red carpet stunner and everytime she makes an appearance, we anticipate what major fashion moment she was about to create. On this night of the Golden Globes, the actress chose a lace-and-tulle number by Armani Prive. True to her style, she kept the rest of her look simple (aside from her earrings) and let the dress do the talking.

Maria Menounos was sexy in a fuschia Max Azria Atelier number. Color on the red carpet is always a good thing, and I like that this dress was subtly sexy and the loud color was toned down in a more conservative style.

Those who did rather well on the red carpet tonight, though I'm not entirely in love:

The golden girl-of-the-moment Jennifer Lawrence won herself a second globe (Best Supporting Actress - American Hustle)!! So happy for her!! The Dior spokeswoman wore a couture gown by the fashion house, but I wasn't feeling it (though she still manages not to look disastrous). I do love all her Neil Lane jewelry especially those matching emerald earrings and cocktail ring, and the pretty Roger Vivier clutch. Oh, do try to watch her acceptance speech, if you haven't. So adorable!

Emma Roberts was actually pretty impressive in her Lanvin off-shoulder mermaid-cut gown. She really dressed to the occasion and it isn't often I see her so glam-ed up. I would've preferred her Neil Lane earrings to be of a jewel-tone color (emerald is still a hot favorite), but in a way, her look is kept more youthful with her turquoise pair. This will probably be one of my favorite outfits of Emma's.

Emilia Clarke was edgy in a Proenza Schouler strapless dress and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes. She added interest to her look with some stacked bangles. The bangles didn't quite fit the picture but I really like the dress. Nothing too overdone here, for sure.

Julianna Margulies looked elegant in an Andrew Gn number from the label's 2014 Resort collection. It's a little Alexander McQueen-ish, and statement-making on it's own. Though the actress' Van Cleef earrings did a great job complementing the gown.

Aubrey Plaza was embracing color in her bi-color (the duo tone/color-blocking trend was really making a statement at the Globes this year, as you will see) Oscar de la Renta gown. Going pink and purple for the entire look, the actress picked a gold-trimmed clutch by Amanda Pearl and Louboutin peep-toes in the same color tones. I am always for color and this was a great look that awakened the red carpet. One thing I didn't quite fancy though, was the big bow on the back of her dress.

New mom and pregnant again Drew Barrymore was glowing and looked so dear in her colorful Monique Lhuillier dress. Peeking out underneath the high-low hem were those yummy Roger Vivier peep-toes. Silky straight locks and a light Edie Parker clutch completed the look. I like how the shoes complement the dress and nothing from the rest of the outfit competes with the beautiful dress.

Whoever saw Olivia Wilde's look at the Golden Globes this year and do not remember Angelina Jolie at the same event in 2011 simply did not see the look. You may see below to jolt your memory if you did.

Though undeniably, the two dresses (Angelina Jolie's by Atelier Versace) are of two different shades of green, the floor-length look and the long-sleeves are almost identical. And on this night, that would be the only reason why I am not giving Olivia Wilde's look a Wow. But I must say, this Gucci sequinned dress is a perfect fit and flatters the House actress and her growing baby bump. To be fair, I also do like Olivia's dress better because of the shade of green it is in.

Taylor Swift glams up with a red lip and wavy locks to match her feminine gown by Carolina Herrera. It's a nice change from some of the many edgy glam looks we have been seeing her in of late. She always manages to pull off many different types of looks and dresses of various lengths with her model-esque height and features. Good look, but not the best of Taylor's.

And finally those who did not get my thumb of approval:

I really, really didn't want to put her here, especially when it's Amy Adams and she's wearing my favorite designer. But the Valentino gown was not much of a looker and the look was a little to plain despite the color-block. Perhaps more bling or a more elaborate hairstyle could have done the trick. But I will always have a soft spot for Amy Adams and she will always be gorgeous to me. I couldn't help but think if the deep-v neckline was a tribute to the movie American Hustle which she was nominated for (and won!) the Golden Globe for Best Actress. Tons of chest-showing dresses in the film!

Actress Tatiana Maslany oozed Hollywood glamour in her silver shimmery Jenny Packham number, complete with L.K. Bennett pumps and Jimmy Choo clutch in the same color. The best thing I loved about her look, was her side-swept curls. It's a little vintage-y but I felt that the look was missing the bright red lip, if old Hollywood glamour was what she was going for. No doubt the dress is a pretty amazing, but I didn't really buy the whole monochrome, silver head-to-toe look, partly 'cause it pales her a little bit. Would have loved a bit more, perhaps on the clutch.

It definitely feels like deja vu. Oh, she's gorgeous, like crazy gorgeous, but I've seen Kate Beckinsale in mermaid-cut gowns way too many times. The look is getting a little too dated on her, though Zuhair Murad makes ah-mazing gowns (you have to check out his Fall 2013 Couture collection).

Also disappointing, and also in silver, was Mila Kunis. We are talking about the Mila who once wowed at the SAG Awards a couple of years back in her Alexander McQueen number. The Gucci Premiere dress seemed to have drowned her petite frame, and the halter cut of the dress didn't seem to be working well for her. The make-up was a little predictable and I hated the hair.

In pretty much the same color palette as Emma Roberts (above) was Modern Family's Sofia Vergara. The voluptuous actress always makes her presence known on the red carpet and I was actually rather surprised she picked something in black for this occasion. In a way, it was still a grand entrance with her Zac Posen voluminous gown (so, in a way, thankfully it was black) but I think this look lost out to her other major moments. Big, bright jewelry was always her thing, but I guess I'm anticipating something different from her now. Love the hair though.

I surely hope that Paula Patton has not resorted to looking silly to draw some attention. She has definitely been seen in better clothing, and this is not one of them. That giant ruffle on her Stephane Rolland Spring Couture dress is distracting, in a negative way. I only love that her figure is so good, the color still flatters her. Oh yes, and not forgetting pretty Charlotte Olympia heels. The rest? Eww.

NO. Absolutely, no. Why would one of the most beautiful woman standing not know what to wear to the Golden Globes?! Heidi Klum arrived at the red carpet in a nightie-look wearing Marchesa. I love the designer, but the dress just make her seemed a little under-dressed for one of Hollywood's biggest nights. Seriously, the choker necklace looked way too 90s' and she's missing the glam make-up that could have changed up the entire look, like those dark lips on model Lindsay Wixson on the runway.

Naomi Watts was in a Tom Ford number as she walked the carpet with her hubby. Her look was way too similar to the one she wore to the People's Choice Awards 2013 (see below, in Alexander McQueen). I'm not a fan of repeated looks.

Zooey Deschanel hasn't been hitting the target of late. This time in Oscar de la Renta, the cropped top portion of her gown didn't seem to be doing her frame any favours. The designer's heels also looked a little awkward on her feet. But she's still cute with that flower in her hair.

Zoe Saldana is actually one of the few stylish celebrities in Hollywood I admire but this time I was half-hearted about her look. Dressed in Prabal Gurung, the look was showing a little too much skin for the Globes. It's a very sweet dress (especially paired with the Knot box clutch by Bottega Veneta and Christian Louboutin heels) and very well-made, but the sheer part of the skirt showing her legs and the off-shoulder straps were a little too much.

Also in Prabal Gurung was Sandra Bullock, who chose a color-block Pre-Fall 2014 piece. I guess I liked the fact that she picked something colorful and coincides with spring, but I wasn't really into the dress. I really like what she did with her hair and makeup though.

Another fashion victim tonight, Uma Thurman wearing Atelier Versace. I like the cutting of the dress, but the print and the way the dress is 'cut' at the hip into two distinct parts just isn't flattering. Change the print or color of the dress into something bright and you get a stunning Uma Thurman. This just didn't work out.

I wasn't feeling Reese Witherspoon's Calvin Klein Collection look. Maybe 'cos the minimalist look isn't the best choice (personally) for the red carpet to a big award ceremony. I'd give her credit for picking something that really flattered her figure and the color is amazing, but that aside, there really wasn't anything major going on.

Emma Watson rarely hits the mark, for me, and this time it wasn't an exception. Is it her pose that's bothering me? Here she is, slouching in her Dior Couture number. I wouldn't be slouching if I was wearing Dior Couture. She has to figure out more to do with her hair, and her body (poses) in front of the camera. One thing I love: those Roger Vivier heels.

Sarah Hyland, such a cute girl but her look was just, blah. The color and cut of the Georges Hobeika dress, especially around the bodice, wasn't flattering at all. In fact, the look was a little high school prom. Hated the belt and her make-up looks non-existent.

So whose look did you like or dislike most? Next up, the Screen Actors Guild Awards!
