Gravity actress Sandra Bullock was elegant in her emerald Lanvin lamé strapless dress. It was a look I preferred over the one she wore to the Golden Globes. Overall, it was more glamorous and looked like more effort was put into the look. I love that she kept accessorizing to a minimum and complemented the dress with a Roger Vivier clutch and Jimmy Choo strappy heels of a matching silver.
Meryl Streep looked like a school teacher or a principal in her black Stella McCartney off-shoulder dress. It was a little disappointing seeing her in an understated all-black look, but it's Meryl Streep. What are you gonna do about it? She still looks radiant, and I fell so hard for that gold cuff. LOVE IT.
Helen Mirren wows in her Escada dress as she walked the red carpet to the SAG Awards. It was a fierce look, but the actress fearlessly matches the dress with bright nails and lips. I love how she is so bold on the red carpet, never shying away from colors and loud prints (we're talking about leopard print, etc). But I'm going to say I preferred her look at the Golden Globes to this one. There's some magic going on when she wore those soft pastel colors.
The Hunger Games starlet Jennifer Lawrence was in a Fall Couture number from Dior. I would picture the dress to be a lot prettier seeing it in person with the colors reflecting off camera flashes and overhead spotlights. Her dangly earrings are a perfect fit against her pixie cropped locks. Definitely one-up from her Golden Globes look.
Lupita Nyong'o did not just win the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 12 Years A Slave that night. I believe she also won all our hearts the moment she stepped onto the red carpet wearing this beautiful turquoise number by Gucci. The dress really popped on the red carpet which was a little short of bright colors this year. Lupita wore it perfectly. Best dressed, definitely!
Cate Blanchett is glowing in her soft pastel dress by Givenchy. It's amazing how she always manages to make a statement with just a great dress and basic makeup and hairstyle done. She pulls off all these dresses with unique touches effortlessly while none of us could possibly do. This may not be one of her best looks, but this talented, inspiring woman literally glows.
Games of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke dazzled in a custom Calvin Klein single-shoulder gown. I like what she did with her hair, pulling it to the side and tying it into a low bun. The look channeled vintage beauty, old Hollywood glamour, minus the red lip. Simple but elegant.
Isla Fisher looked sassy with her toussled red locks, wearing a shiny Oscar de la Renta gown. I love the Bvlgari jewels on her, especially the Serpenti bracelet. The look was bordering on prom-girl but Isla brought elegance to it.
One of the few looks that I actually disliked at the SAG Awards this year: Kerry Washington. I think it's lovely to embrace your baby bump but this cropped top and voluminous skirt ensemble by Prada just wasn't flattering in the right areas. She doesn't need to add bulk to her frame, and what I hated more was the side slit of her cropped top. Was it revealing the side of her bra?! This was a "no" for me. I believe there are other more beautiful looks for a mother-to-be.
Claire Danes always look like such a darling. She was perfect in her Vionnet dress with a sequinned panel down the front. Though it would have been added bonus if she had done up her hair more, she still looked so angelic. It does look like she just slipped on the dress and left her house.
The English actress has been hitting all the right notes whenever she makes an appearance. Michelle Dockery was a classic beauty in a J. Mendel high-slit dress which also features a deep-V cut showing a little bit of cleavage. Sexy without being over-the-top, I'm glad the basic colors of the dress toned down its revealing cut. You can't not like the red lip and the side-parted hair. Not forgetting those matchy Gianvito Rossi pumps and a minimalistic Calvin Klein clutch to complete the look. Another one on my 'best dressed' list for the night!
I was a little taken aback seeing Julia Roberts in her pink Valentino jumpsuit. It was a fun choice and I think it would have been of great comfort wearing it on the red carpet, while everyone else was worrying over dress trains getting stepped on or constantly pulling up their strapless gowns in front of cameras. She didn't look awful but I thought it wasn't flattering her. I thought the silver on her YSL heeled sandals and Roger Vivier clutch was a little muted though.
Now, on to the cast of Modern Family. Sarah Hyland's look was WAY better than the one she wore to the Golden Globes earlier this month. But, I think she could have done something else with her hair, instead of side-sweeping it. Probably a half up-do or full, bouncy waves to match the feminine touch of her Pamella Roland mullet dress. I must say, the difference in effect of the dress worn by a more petite Sarah Hyland and the lanky model really is drastic. I can't fault the pair of Jimmy Choos she's wearing though.
Ariel Winter barely looks 16 years old in her Badgley Mischka get-up. It's a little like the cooler color version of Mila Kunis' Alexander McQueen look (you may have a re-cap with the Golden Globes 2014 entry). I thought the cleavage was a little too much, but nonetheless, the dress is to-die-for. Didn't like her clutch. which was a little too prom-ish.
Sofia Vergara stepped out of her voluminous gowns and bright dresses of coral, cobalt blue and shocking pink, into a metallic, embellished one by Donna Karan Atelier. I really like this look, ohmygod those curls. I love the see-through portion of the bottom of her dress. Her necklace lend the look a little royalness. Like a total diva!
