Teen Choice Awards 2012.

It has literally been forever since I last posted! Work really drains you out completely, till all the energy you have left at the end of the day is used to just lie down on the sofa to catch some TV or slip into bed to read a magazine (not even a book).

But I just saw pictures of the Teen Choice Awards being posted up by Just Jared, and thought I'd blog a little, since I do miss giving my 2 cents' worth on the red carpet outfits. So, I'll start off with the bleah (not good), then I'll move on to blah (nothing inspiring) and finish off my post with the wow (totally awesome!).

Ashley Benson wore a corset top by Monique Lhuillier and matched it with Balenciaga high-waist pants and Jimmy Choo pumps. I love the corset top (which I usually don't) but the actress looked so bottom-heavy with those pants, the resulting look is really awkward. The pumps are also beyond-boring. She needs to put in more effort.

Ashley Benson's Pretty Little Liars co-star Shay Mitchell wore a Donna Karan dress that features a corset-bodice and a skirt. Camilla Skovgaard nude pumps complete the look. I thought the outfit wasn't pulled together at all, the shoes and the dress being completely mismatched. I hate to say that I really don't like the dress either. It doesn't look very well-sewn at the waist.

Look at the picture of Demi Lovato, cover her face, and just focus on the outfit: who does it remind you of? Don't tell me Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas wasn't the first person you thought of! The former Disney star wore a feathered number by Falguni and Shane Peacock with edgy platform heels. Along with her blonde/pink hair pulled into a slick ponytail, the entire look was too Stacy Ferguson! In fact, Fergie has worn a dress from the same label before to the AMAs (see picture below)! I hate that there wasn't much originality.

I thought really hard as to whether I should put Zooey Deschanel and her Monique Lhuillier Resort 2013 dress under bleah or blah, and decided to categorize under the former, only because she's starting to lose her appeal on the red carpet. Gone were the days where she struck the right chord with her Prada dress and tuxedo-nails. Her black pumps are yawn. And what's up with the pose?

Nina Dobrev didn't manage to make quite a fashion statement, as she did the last couple of times she walked the red carpet, this time wearing a strapless teal dress by J. Mendel. Even with her Jimmy Choos, she looked too high-school-prom for my liking.

Debbie Ryan arrived at the TCAs in a Resort 2013 number from Bibhu Mohapatra and shoes from Chanel. I like the dress, I like the shoes, but not together. I get the idea, Debbie is trying to recreate the model's look with the caged-heels but it isn't quite working for me. Besides, the dress isn't flattering at all, and she's picked the wrong hairstyle for the dress. It appears to be taking the attention away from the dress.

Jordin Sparks was all smiles on the carpet in her Chagoury Couture parachute dress and Prada pumps. Personally, I'm no fan of parachute dresses, so this falls under "bleah" but I must say she carried it off not too badly.

Unlike her Pretty Little Liars co-stars whose outfits didn't appeal to me, Lucy Hale only did a tad better than her counterparts as she arrived at the show wearing a bright orange Wes Gordon frock with gold strappy heels by Brian Atwood. I think it was a nice change, seeing sparkly gold footwear matched against her bracelets from Giles and Brother, while many others may wear the dress with stiletto pumps. Love the cute braid too.

Selena Gomez went for the fun and flirty look with her hot pink Dsquared tank dress. It was good effort, but I personally don't like the dress. But points goes to the shoes by Herve Leger. The fuchsia-white combo has a great summer feel to it.

Hannah Simone took a leap with her Mary Katrounzou print dress, but failed to bring the look to a "wow" when she decided to match the beautiful number with JustFab nude peep-toes. She should have taken a greater leap with fun shoes, instead of sticking to the safe choice of nude-colored footwear. Good try, though I think a brighter lip color and a messy updo or half-updo would complement the dress better.

Jojo's outfit reminded me too much of what Miley Cyrus wore to the Teen Choice back in 2009 (see below), probably only in softer colors and more of a lighter, summer feel to the look, and Miley's more edgy.  Jojo's mini-skirt is from Marco Marco, and nude pumps are from Christian Louboutin.

Glee's leading lady Lea Michele was head-to-toe silver and Versace (dress is from the label's Spring Couture 2012 collection). The textured dress is really pretty, with what appears to be like rose motifs all over. But with her, it's like deja vu. Feels like I've seen a similar outfit on Lea Michele before.

iCarly's Miranda Cosgrove was in a shimmery mini-dress by Collette Dinnigan and ankle-strap pumps by Stella McCartney. It's great to see Miranda trying on something different, not your usual prom-dress lookalikes, though she still prefers to stick to the safe side with her choice of black footwear. At least those Stella McCartney pumps are gorgeous.

Twilight's Nikki Reed has yet to make an impact on the red carpet, and this time, she looked so figure-less in her Contrarian New York ensemble. The skirt should probably have been slightly shorter, and perhaps added with a little more flare to give her waistline more emphasis. I love her hair and her Brian Atwood platforms, though.

Country singer Taylor Swift wore a white frock by Maria Lucia Hohan and sequinned slingbacks by Prada. The dress is pretty, but I must say, I can spot a Maria Lucia Hohan dress from afar now!

Colombiana star Zoe Saldana was in a Jonathan Saunders outfit complete with Louboutin heels, as the actress won the Action Movie Actress award! I'm really glad Zoe altered the length of the skirt, which makes the look more fun, more event-appropriate. I love that she added those fun shoes to the outfit as well, but the only thing I didn't like is the dull color of the ensemble, 'cause I love when Zoe Saldana wears color which she does so well.

Only few stars captured my attention at the purple-carpet event. Hayden Panettiere was so lovely in her monochromatic, purple-themed look. The petite actress wore a sequinned Zuhair Murad number with matching quirky purple heels with unique print-blocked details. She completed her look with a evening clutch covered with sequins of a darker shade of purple.

Victoria Justice was utterly cute in her Gomez-Gracia print dress, which showed off her gorgeous gams in an age-appropriate manner. I love the look, something I'd definitely wear myself, along with her cream Schutz pumps.

I'm rather new to her but Holland Roden was picture-perfect in her choice of alice+olivia's Collection dress bowled me over. Matched with a Lauren Merkin clutch and Louboutin nude heels, Holland channeled a little bit of Jessica Chastain, complete with the hairdo. I absolutely adore the dress, which I would get for myself, and I like that she traded the model's look of burgundy pumps for nude ones for a day-time look. This has to be my favorite look for the TCAs this year!

"Call Me Maybe" singer Carly Rae Jepsen certainly knows how to work her petite frame as she looked summer-ready in her Lisa Ho tropical-print ensemble, complemented with black Aldo pumps and a cute Kate Spade clutch. Very nicely pulled together.

Chelsea Kane looked as though she was channeling Cameron Diaz in her FCUK blouse, alice+olivia patchwork shorts and electric blue Aldo pumps. It was a great look, with varying patterns and textures, very fresh. She's bringing it!
