Clutch Bags: The Wanted List.

It has truly been a long time since I last posted anything. But I have been rather active on Instagram over the past month, sharing Fashion Week goodness. Do check out my IG account at @tinseltownstyle for real-time stylish street looks, hot celebrity styles and off-the-runway updates and trends for the upcoming season! You can also assess it via the Instagram icon to the right of this page!

That aside, I decided to come up with a list of bags that I am coveting at the moment. Not exactly going to sweep any off the shelves at the moment, but hopefully in the near future. But this list is definitely subject to changes.

I am going to start off with clutches or dinner bags first, because I have been on the lookout for the perfect one to invest in for a long time. And yes, I am still pretty undecided, probably because the most ideal one is going to cost me several months of savings. I shall just take my time now since it's not like I have plenty of dinners or events to attend at the moment.

Valentino Rockstud Flap Clutch
Valentino is usually on the top of my list. The label makes such beautiful clothes and bags. The Rockstud collection was practically made for me, as my friends would typically say, "studs are so you!". I was this close to getting the Rockstud tote in a dark, midnight blue until I realized how much I dislike totes or bags without compartments and stuck my ground - despite the bag tempting me stud by stud. So I am still pinning on Valentino to make bags which are more practical (compartments!), or I may just succumb to one of these beautiful clutch bags one day.

The Rockstud Flap Clutch is probably the most ideal, because it is roomy enough for keys, cellphone, a card/money case or just money and a couple of credit cards, make-up (for touching up purposes), etc. Plus, you don't have to fold your red packets (in the case of a Chinese wedding dinner). The handle on the flap adds to the cool factor. And this is absolutely versatile, in practically any shade.

Valentino Glam Lock Shoulder Bag (Medium)
Another drool-worthy number from Valentino, the Glam Lock Shoulder Bag, which comes with a chain strap that allows you to wear it in two different lengths. The same way you can with a 2.55 Chanel flap bag. The bag does come in other sizes - bigger and smaller, but this medium is perfect for a day out yet elegant for a glamorous dinner.
Valentino Glam Lock Medium Leather Shoulder Bag - US$2,200 (Net-A-Porter)

Valentino Va Va Voom Leather Shoulder Bag
The last Valentino on the list - the Va Va Voom, makes a statement with the 5 giant studs on its clutch handle. Regardless of the color it comes in, it is easy to wear, and goes with everything.

Valentino Va Va Voom Leather Shoulder Bag - US$3,476 (Net-A-Porter)

Bvlgari Serpenti Shoulder Bag
A very, very elegant bag. The Bvlgari Serpenti shoulder bag is a hit among celebrities. The emerald green version has been spotted on Miranda Kerr, Jessica Alba and Leighton Meester, but I would very much like the white one. Or pretty much any color and any version.

Dior Miss Dior Bag
I am not one who is into a bag that the mass population carries. So, as much as I used to have the hots for a Chanel Classic Flap bag, I think I've seen enough of it on the streets to know that it is no longer a bag I need to add to my collection (unless I become a millionaire overnight and I've got every other bag I'm eyeing). Ok, I still want the Reissue 2.55 Bag though, simply because it is more understated.

However, if I should get a flap bag (and have the monies for it), I would go straight for Miss Dior. It is still a classic but definitely more subtle than the interlock "C" on a Chanel Classic Flap bag. It is also ladylike, but juggles well with everyday outfits.

Givenchy Antigona Clutch
The Givenchy Antigona Clutch is one that can double up as a giant day clutch. I never really understood the hype of the Antigona until I got the bag version in small navy with gun metal hardware. It really is a great, great bag. And I believe this clutch is a marvelous choice too, without a hefty price tag.
Givenchy Antigona Envelope Clutch - US$1,220.50 (Net-a-Porter)
Alternatively, should the plain clutch be too mainstream, the Givenchy Antigona clutch with a graphic design of Bambi and a female painting is edgy but nothing over-the-top. Plus it is a lot more affordable.

Balenciaga Arena Giant Envelope
More commonly seen is the Balenciaga Arena Envelope clutch. And most of the time in black, too. It is great choice with a lot of room for your necessities, plus it does have character with a edgy glam-girl vibe. You can opt for the one with bigger studs, or the one that comes with more muted studs and tassels. It also comes with an attached mirror for your touch-up needs on-the-go.

I was close to getting this, but needed something a little less strong in character. Balenciaga does suit my edgy personality, but my taste in general is transitioning into one that is 'cleaner' and more elegant, so it is definitely important to start with a dinner bag.

Oh, I did come across this white one in the Spanish house's latest version of their signature series, with the metal trims. I think white definitely makes the clutch more modern, and the metal details throw in a classier feel to it.

Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Silk Knot Clutch
The Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Silk Knot Clutch has always been a dream to me. I love that it speaks so much of the brand without having logos spilled all over. It comes in many brilliant colors, all of which work extremely well in a glamorous setting. Usually box clutches are limited in terms of space, but I think the stretch version (see below) lets you throw in an additional eyeshadow or lipstick without problems.

The only downside is that I'm not exactly a fan of boxy clutches or minaudieres. I find it a hassle to hold, especially when you have to go to the bathroom and you kind of don't wanna lay it on any surface in there. Yet box clutches that come with a shoulder strap just doesn't cut it, if you know what I mean. So, I guess that would be the main thing stopping me from ever getting this, but of course, with the exception of ever striking it rich enough to own more clutches than I really need.

So which would be your choice? Let me know! :)

Trend Alert: The Come-Back of the Birkenstock Sandals.

Time to whip out those investment footwear you bought years ago which had been banished to the back of your wardrobe.

These hippie-looking cork sandals from German label Birkenstock have been brought back to the fashion scene by Hollywood stars and fashion bloggers alike.

The stylish Olsens went twinsies with their Arizona sandals as they up the comfort levels of their airport style with these classic Birkenstocks.
British It-girl Alexa Chung keeps things preppy - her go-to look, as she slung a blue sweater over her classic get-up with a Louis Vuitton mini-bag.
Modern Family actress Julie Bowen was casual in her nautical outfit as she attended an event in New York wearing embellished Gizeh sandals.
Naomi Watts matched her cross-body bag and her slouchy pants to the tribal theme and finished the off-duty look with Birks.
Supermodel Heidi Klum braves the heat in of-the-moment palm tree print and denim cut-offs, and of course, her trusty Birkenstock sandals.
Miranda Kerr gets ready for her flight in a comfy get-up consisting of a cropped sweater, ribbed boyfriend jeans and Arizona Birks.

Renowned fashion bloggers such as Zina of Fashion Vibe and Julie of Sincerely, Jules also love mixing up their looks with the newest star on the footwear scene:

I am guilty of having left my two pairs of Birkenstocks to collect dust, but to be fair, these comfy sandals do correct the shape and contours of my feet with their soft footbeds just after a few wears. I believe they should be the choice footwear for those of you with flat-foot issues. Now that they're back in trend, no reason not to dig out those 15896357 pairs you bought while they were selling like hotcakes back in the millennium.

Birkenstocks are some of the closest cousins of the "mandals" already in the market. "Mandals" or man-sandals have been popping up all over the runway and have now made their way to high-street labels such as Zara and Topshop

These chunky sandals are not easy to pull-off, I must say. But if you are keen to take it on, here's a tip or two:

- Mandals in white or silver are more modern. Use them to update your existing outfits for a sharp look.
- Earthy neutrals are easier to wear. Try them in brown or taupe shades which are versatile but not heavy.
- Platformed sandals are more updated. Ditch the flat ones.

Current Obsession: Kenzo Sweaters

Nothing new, but IT KEEPS GETTING SOLD OUT!!!

Can't seem to get my hands on this piece of heaven. I'm getting a little obsessed over the Tiger sweater, as well as the one with the eye motif.

Trust me, once you see how the celebrities all over tinsel town have worn them, or better yet, how amazing the street styles look on models or fashionable streetwalkers, you'll be sold.

Model Bar Rafaeli goes monochromatic in grey, as she dresses up her Kenzo sweatshirt with tailored pants and snakeskin pumps plus a dash of color with a bright structured purse.

Fellow supermodel Joan Smalls was edgy chic with a grey Tiger sweatshirt with colorful details, worn with a flirty cobalt blue skirt and patent shoes over printed socks. *Cue applause*

One of my style muses, Nicky Hilton wears her Kenzo number in a full-black ensemble. I love how she lets her sweatshirt standout, but add interest to her look with details like a structured Celine Trapeze bag with suede gussets and Isabel Marant high-top wedge sneakers.

Selena Gomez made a radio appearance a yellow tone-on-tone sweatshirt. I did like how it was worn with the shades, leather pants and white bag, but not her hoop earrings.

Jessica Alba attended the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce event in an attention-grabbing topper over her leather pencil skirt. I think at first glance the look was a little over-the-top, but after awhile it gets better. I liked how she matched her lip color and giant clutch with colors from the sweatshirt. I wasn't sure if the statement necklace was necessary, though. She could have just pulled off more arm candy or rings instead.

And now, more looks from trend-setting people on the streets. I love how this pretty blond girl wore her Kenzo sweatshirt in a clean, elegant manner with a structured purse, straight-cut skirt and nude pumps.

Crisp white collars is now a great way to smarten up your look. The green is a tricky color to wear but this lady just nailed it. With all black everything-else, she cleverly picks up the orange from her top and wore it on her interesting choice of footwear. And of course, a thick, gold strap watch just ups the game.

Pairing the sweatshirt with distressed boyfriend jeans is one of the most current ways to wear a casual look. Transparent straps on her heels keep things streamlined without losing the edginess of a loose-cut top and baggy denims. The clutch in a different shade of green is unexpected yet fun.

Add to the feline look with a leopard print denim skirt. Matching the burgundy colors on her skirt and booties doesn't break up the look and a thin strap cross-body bag keeps things focused.

Here are more Kenzo sweatshirts in other designs for you (and myself) to drool over:
